Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason: There's something wrong with Martha. Ever since she was seventeen she has been often sad, cruel to her loved ones, and finds it hard to be alive. Freshly forty, she is now picking up the ruins of her adult life after her husband leaves her and kicks her out of her Oxford home. Back in her childhood home, will Martha be able to find a way to change, a way to start again by going back?

Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic by Alison Bechdel: In this award-winning graphic memoir, author Alison Bechdel tells the story of her childhood with her father who ran the town funeral home (dubbed "Fun Home" by her family), and who died only weeks after discovering he was gay. Left in mystery in the aftermath of her own coming out and the passing of her father, this incredible personal history is full of self-discovery, humor, and rich literary allusion.
