Kris' 2025 New Releases!

Happy year of the sequels! There are so many fantastic books coming out this year that I might have included a few too many, but it was impossible to leave any out--especially there are still so many that I am excited for, but didn't want to write a whole novella here!
Adrift in Currents Clean and Clear by Seanan McGuire
The Wayward Girl series is one of my favorite ongoing fantasy reads. It is always interesting to see where McGuire will focus the next novella-sized adventure--whether it's a fairytale candyland full or a Frankenstein/Dracula world full of monsters, each book follows a different character and their adventure in that realm. Cross the first threshold in the first book, Every Heart a Doorway, but remember to tell yourself: be sure.
Already out!
Four Ruined Realms (Deluxe Limited Edition) by Mai Corland
This is the second book in the Broken Blades series (the first being Five Broken Blades, which came out last year!) If you like high fantasy with a full cast of flawed characters all with different secrets and motives thrown together to complete a heist, I highly recommend this series.
Already out!
Water Moon by Samantha Sotto Yambao
A new voice, finally! This is Yambao's first book and I've been fortunate to read it early and I loved it! This fantasy dives into a world of dreams and choices, and makes you question what is the most valuable thing about living.
Already out!
Hammajang Luck by Makana Yamamoto
In this sci-fi world, one corporation owns everything, and once you're on their blacklist, your life is over. For Edie, fresh out of jail after eight years after a theft-gone-wrong, putting their life in order for the sake of their family is their only concern. Unable to find any work, Eide finds that the only job left to take is the one that put them behind bars, but for family (and maybe an old flame) diving back into the world of crime for the heist to end all heists might be worth it.
Already out!
Onyx Storm (Deluxe Limited Edition) by Rebecca Yarros
The third book in the Fourth Wing series is here! I am so excited to dive back into Basgiath and see how Yarrors rips our hearts out next!
Already out!
The Bones Beneath My Skin by TJ Klune
Join me in reading another TJ Klune book that will probably make me cry. I love Klune's House on the Cerulean Sea series and his other two cozy fantasies, and just by looking at the cover of this one, I know it's going to get me right in the feels.
Out February 4th!
Swordheart by T. Kingfisher
The year of 2025 is the year for T. Kingfisher fans! This the first of three Kingfisher books coming out this year, but this one is a reprint--don't get my wrong, I don't mean that as a bad thing! I haven't read much of Kingfisher's non-traditionally published books yet (they're all on the ever-expanding TBR), but with this getting a gorgeous new cover and sprayed edges, I'm very excited to dive into another one of Kingfisher's twisted fairytale romances!
Out February 25th!
Tea You at the Altar by Rebecca Thorne
As our wonderful couple, Kianthe and Reyna, count down the final days to their wedding, the world seems bent on making it impossible to say "I do!" I have loved reading about these two and their world in the first two books of the series, so I'm excited to watch them get married and save the world--again!
Out March 4th!
They Bloom at Night by Trang Thanh Tran
Trang Thanh Tran captured me with their first book, She Is a Haunting, and I've been waiting for the next read since. This sapphic YA horror is a fantastic read right before the summer and I'm very excited to get my hands on a copy!
Out March 4th!
The Ragpicker King by Cassandra Clare
I know, I know: another sequel. Unlike the movie industry with its remakes and its endless sequels, the book world plans for its sequels and series, and I am eager to continue reading Clare's first adult fantasy series.
Out March 4th!
Fable for the End of the World Deluxe Limited Edition by Ava Reid
This new Ava Reid book is described as The Hunger Games meets The Last of Us, and that's pretty accurate! I've had the privilege of reading it early and it is good! This is the year of the games with this incredible book and the new Suzanne Collins book!
Out March 4th!
Sunrise on the Reaping (a Hunger Games Novel) by Suzanne Collins
Who isn't excited for this? This is Haymitch's Hunger Games story and he was one of my favorite characters. While Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes was interesting, I'm happy to be returning to the games from the point of view of the
Out March 18th!
Blood on Her Tongue (Deluxe Edition) (Special) by Johanna Van Veen
A new gothic horror with sprayed edges? Sold. Vampires? Say less.
Out March 25th!
Gifted & Talented by Olivie Blake
Olivie Blake is a queen at crafting characters who love and hate each other all at once, my favorites are the one in her dark academia's primed with hate and lust equally. This time, however, it's all about sibling rivalry and a new kind of inheritance game.
Out April 1st!
Cold Eternity by S. A. Barnes
When S. A. Barnes writes a book, I read. It's just fact. My favorite sci-fi horror have all come from Barnes' last two books (only two until this one) and while I may have some bias, they are fantastic spooky reads for those of us who look up at the stars and shudder sometimes.
Out April 8th!
The Night Eaters #3: Their Kingdom Come: A Graphic Novel Volume 3 by Marjorie Liu, Sana Takeda
As the end of the Night Eaters trilogy concludes in this gorgeous and graphic story, I'll be sad to say goodbye to these horrendously flawed but hilarious characters.
Out April 15h!
The Missing Half by Ashley Flowers, Alex Kiester
Crime Junkies is my all-time favorite true crime podcast, and Ashley Flowers' debut mystery novel, All Good People Here, was a thrilling read, so I'm very excited to read Flowers' newest book and see if the twists and turns are as captivating as I hope they will be!
Out May 6th!
Overgrowth by Mira Grant
I'm a big fan of Seanan McGuire's work, as is obvious by the first listed book in this blog, but I haven't read any of her pseudonym's horror yet, which feels disgraceful to admit. I love nature-based horror, such at the fungus driven worlds of The Last of Us and What Moves the Dead, but I'm very curious to see how Grant's take will set it apart from the rest. I know she spins creepy well--some of the worlds in the Wayward Children series are very creepy--so seeing how deep the horror goes in this book will be thrilling!
Out May 6th!
The Wolf and the Woodsman Deluxe Collector's Edition by Ava Reid
This is technically a reprint of an already-published work by the same name, it just gets a collector's edition, which is all the rave right now. I'm not complaining! I love special editions and I love Ava Reid. This book was already on my TBR but with that gorgeous design, it's been bumped up!
Out June 24th!
The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst
Sarah Beth Durst captured my attention last year with her book, The Spellshop, with its adorable found family, women supporting women, and romance. It was cozy and cute, and low stakes, which I think we all need to read a book like that once in awhile.
Out July 15th!
The Library at Hellebore by Cassandra Khaw
Something not low stakes will probably be Cassandra Khaw's newest book. This new dark academia about an institute for monsters written by a master of horror is sure to have me on the edge of my seat.
Out July 22nd!
Accomplice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer
So no surprise to anyone reading this (if you've made it this far, hi and thank you, and I'm sorry it's so long!) but here's another sequel! This laugh-out-loud romantasy has me in its chokehold with the romance--not to spoil anything, but if they don't fix this mess they're in before the end of this book, I will die.
Out August 5th!
A Theory of Dreaming by Ava Reid
Ava Reid's sequel to her incredible A Study in Drowning is sure to have me in my feels again with her haunting writing style and ache-inducing love story. Effy and Preston are back in classes, and Effy is the first woman ever to be enrolled in the literature college. Everyone is making it clear they want her to fail however, and with war exploding around them, Effy and Preston have to find their way out of the drowning world around them.
Out August 5th!
Alchemy and a Cup of Tea Deluxe Limited Edition by Rebecca Thorne
And we're back with Kianthe and Reyna! I'm excited to read this to continue the saga of my favorite sapphic heroines--now married!

Among the Burning Flowers by Samantha Shannon
Samantha Shannon's writing is so vivid and poetic, and her worlds are so detailed and characters so alive. I loved the first two books in the series (book one and the prequel), so I am very excited to see where she takes us next in this incredible story!
Out September 16th!
To Clutch a Razor by Veronica Roth
This story follows after the novella, When Among Crows, which is based on Slavic folklore to build a magical world parallel to our reality. The first one was dark and twisty and filled with intrigue, so I'm hoping this one will be too!
Out September 16th!
The Things Gods Break (Deluxe Limited Edition) by Abigail Owen
September 16th is determined to rob me of all my money and my time with all these new releases on the same day! This is the sequel to The Games Gods Play with its Hades romance and Hunger Games style competition!

The third and last book to the Year of Kingfisher! This is the third book in the Sword Soldier series and I am ecstatic to read more in this series! This time, it's set in a coal mine in West Virginia and focuses on a haunting--and as a big fan of Kingfisher's Southern gothic horror books, I'm very eager to see what Alex Easton faces next!
Out September 30th!

The Ballad of Falling Dragons (Deluxe Limited Edition) by Sarah A. Parker
Sometimes the internet is right about book recs--sometimes, not all the time--and while the writing in this series isn't my favorite, I love the world and magic-building elements and, of course, dragons, so I'm eager to see where this one will go!

Fae & Alchemy #2 (Deluxe Limited Edition) by Callie Hart
No official title for the sequel to Quicksilver yet, but it's on the TBR because I will cease existence if I cannot read what happens next ASAP. Thank you.
