The Year of Sprayed-Edge Books!
2024 has brought some of the most gorgeously designed books we have ever seen on our shelves! With a publisher like Entangled: Red Tower Books bringing stunning one-of-a-kind edge designs to each of their books (for a limited time!), and other publishers publishing edge designs for new books, sprayed edges for others, and anniversary/collectors editions of popular books, we are swimming with beautiful books! Here's a break down of the different kinds of sprayed-edge books with some already published and others soon to come!
Designed Edges
The Wren in the Holly Library by K. A. Linde
A Song to Drown Rivers by Ann Liang
Under the Oak Tree: Volume 1 by Suji Kim
Designed edges are usually a limited run since they take so much time to publish, but they're worth it! If you're looking for a book to show off on your bookshelves, these are the ones for you!
Sprayed Edges
The Last Murder at the End of the World by Stuart Turton
Can't Spell Treason Without Tea by Rebecca Thorne
The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst
These are new releases with just the solid strip of color along the edges. Depending on the publisher (and they're popularity) they might also be limited run. These are great for book lovers who like to arrange their books in rainbow order!
Collector's/Anniversary Editions
The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang
Leviathan Wakes by James S. A. Corey
If We Were Villains by M. L. Rio
These gorgeous collectors and anniversary editions are published for special series--such as The Poppy War series (only the first book is announced thus far) and the Expanse series (the first three are announced and with gorgeous colors!) Then for beloved books such as If We Were Villains, we have a newly published paperback with different art on the cover and the bright sprayed edge!
Paperback Sprayed Edges
Starling House by Alix E. Harrow
Masters of Death by Olivie Blake
Fall of Ruin and Wrath by Jennifer L. Armentrout
These sprayed edges are newly published paperbacks--they weren't sprayed as hardcovers--to entice all collectors and fellow fans of the authors to re-collect the books (and it works!)
